In my last post I discussed who my favorite sports teams are, and I admitted that I will have a slight bias for them. But I didn't really explain why these are my favorite teams, so I want to take a little time to explain how I chose my favorite sports teams and the story that goes along with them. Ill start off first with my favorite team in my favorite sport, The Green Bay Packers. They're the team I've been following the longest and the team I follow most intently.
I've been a Packers fan ever since I was about 5 years old, up until then I like the Raiders. I liked Oakland because both of my parents were Raiders fans and every Sunday we all spent a few hours watching them play. That was until one day when the game was on the same time as my favorite TV show, Dragonball Z. We only had one TV in the house and so my dad said we were going to watch the game and he made it clear that it wasn't up for discussion. They were playing The Green Bay packers, and I never wanted a team to beat the raiders so bad, all because they were the reason I couldn't watch cartoons. Well the day before the game, the Quarterback for the Packers (Brett Favre) father had died, and he decided to take his frustrations out on that poor Oakland defense. Favre threw for 6 touchdowns and over 3 hundred yards en route to a dominating victory. Ever since that day I've called the Packers my favorite team.

About me
I want to take some time to explain a few things about both myself and this blog. First off I want to explain why I chose this over something else. Ever since I was about five years old, I have been around sports constantly. Both of my parents are big football fanatics and the game has been a part of my life for as long as I can remember. It's because of this that I have followed sports for a majority of my life. It's always been a bit of an obsession of mine and I hope to one day find a career that in some way ties into it. My favorite sports to follow are NFL football, College football, and NBA basketball because those are the three that I find most exciting personally, so most likely most of my posts will be about one of those three.
My favorite teams are the Green Bay Packers, Los Angeles Clippers, and at the college level the Oklahoma Sooners. If one of my posts is concerning of of these three teams, chances are that the post is a little biased towards the team I follow. Even though both the College and professional football seasons have come to a close, off-season trades as well as new acquisitions by both teams will most likely end up on my blog. Not to mention that the Los Angeles Clippers have already guaranteed themselves a play-off berth in the western conference, I will have something to post about at least one of my favorite teams for a while.

LAC v OKC
I decided to write about the Clippers' recent game versus the Oklahoma City Thunder. I chose this game because I actually watched it in it's entirety and because the Clippers are my favorite professional basketball team. I've been a fan for about 4 years now, and the only reason is because my dad is a Lakers fan. My Clippers however didn't do very well. The previous week the same two teams faced off in Los Angeles and the Thunder blew a 22 point halftime lead to end up losing the game by five. This time was completely different.
The game was back-and-forth for the first three and a half quarters, and it seemed like either team could take the game, but ultimately the thunder pulled away with about five minutes left and took the game out of reach. The Clippers eventually were their own demise and lost the game because of uncharacteristic turn overs late in the fourth quarter to give Oklahoma City ample opportunities to go ahead and take the lead. This collapse is something I can only hope to not see again moving forward in the season considering that playoffs are just around the corner now.

Kobe v LeBron
Tonight I will have to watch the Los Angeles Lakers take on the Cleveland Cavaliers. This game is not a marquee match up as far as record or playoffs is concerned, but rather about two specific players. I am of course talking about the final game between Kobe Bryant and LeBron James. I chose this game over some of the college games on tonight because of who these players are. Both have dominated the NBA for the whole of their careers and neither have really seen a dip in performance except for last year when Kobe played the whole season injured. this will be 100% the last time these two legends face off on the hardwood in an NBA game since Bryant announced his retirement.
This one-on-one match up is more interesting than most are between two superstars however. These two have been compared to one another for as long as both have dominated the league, almost two decades. Both skipped college, and were drafted first overall in the NBA draft straight out of high school, and both were predicted to be either a superstar or a bust. They have the same build, both weighing in at 240 plus pounds and sizing up at about 6'8. They both are offensive juggernauts who are more than capable of taking over a game completely if need be to get the win. Its because of these measurables and statistics that I chose to pick this game for my blog.

Second Post
My second post is up. I covered two of the big name move in NFL free agency thus far in the season. This whole process is much easier than I thought. I wish I had worked on this when I was given time before so I wouldn't have to try and cram last minute like I am now. I plan on continuing to cover every major sporting event until the project is due. I also have decided to give myself a bit of a challenge. I want to try and have at least five posts up per week from now until completion of the project, which should prove rather easy considering the fact that NCAA march madness is starting up soon, NFL free agency is in full swing, and the NBA season is on its way into the playoffs. All that being said it should be rather simple to cover at least five separate events a week.
I chose to cover these two individual players over some of the other big name free agency acquisitions for two reasons. For one, offensive lineman are some of the most overlooked players in the NFL. Most people just look at the so-called "skilled positions", because they are the ones who are constantly making plays and having their name called out on TV, but without an offensive line no team can be successful. The other reason I chose to cover these two is because they play the same position as I do, and I look up to them both in the sense that I want what they have. The fact that they play the same position as me, it made me more interested in the signings and what they are really worth in the eyes of an NFL team. Both signed contracts worth upwards of $10 million.

First post is up
I've been procrastinating starting my work, but today I finally got my first post on my project up. It was much easier than I had thought it was going to be. This whole process is pretty easy and the website is easy to navigate. My first post is about the Alabama Pro day, which is where all the seniors and players leaving early from the football team get to showcase their talents to scouts and hopefully improve their draft stock. Since Alabama won the National Championship game back in January, and have a history of great college running backs, I decided to cover this event especially since they have two running backs who are widely recruited heading into the league this year. Bama has been a dynasty in recent years for footballs, and is the gold standard for winning at the collegiate level currently.
Alabama's football team has won 3 National Championship games in the short amount of time that I have been watching college football, and is one of the easiest teams to cheer for, since they are the most fundamentally sound and old fashioned team out there. They play the game the way that the game was designed to play when it first became popularized, which is through running the ball, playing great defense and passing efficiently.
